| Toshiba best paper prize
3rd WLE Mobile Learning Symposium: Mobile Learning Cultures across Education, Work and Leisure |
The Centre for Work-based Learning and Education (WLE), at the Institute of Education, London, and the London Mobile Learning Group (LMLG) are pleased to be able to announce the ‘best paper prize’ sponsored by Toshiba. The winner will receive the new Toshiba Netbook NB100.
All accepted papers will be reviewed using the criteria listed below. Presenters not interested in participating in this contest might indicate this in a note to the symposium organisers.

Eligibility:
Members of the panel and sponsoring companies are not eligible.
Criteria:
Papers must be submitted by the published deadlines.
Criteria cover (1) novelty, (2) achievement, (3) research and (4) presentation.
- Novelty: the paper must shed new light on aspects of theory and/or practice in the field of mobile learning.
- Achievement: the paper must make a contribution to new knowledge or the application of knowledge in terms of concepts, theories, empirical findings, policy development or practice.
- Depth of research: the paper must be characterised by systematically collected evidence and a high quality of interpretation and analysis of the data; literature reviews have to refer to current and relevant references.
- Presentation: organisation and structure of the paper must be clear; topic, research design and results must be presented transparently.

| 3 November 2008: | Announcement of the second call for expressions of interest and extended abstracts. | |
| 5 December 2008: | Deadline for the expression of interest – proposed title of submission with a brief description (up to 300 words). | |
| 16 January 2009: | Deadline for the submission of 1000 word extended abstracts. | |
| 30 January 2009: | Notification of acceptance. | |
| 30 January 2009: | Registration opens – symposium programme announcement. | |
| 20 February 2009: | Deadline for the submission of camera-ready extended abstracts. | |
| 27 February 2009: | Registration closes. | |
| 27 March 2009: | Symposium at WLE, Institute of Education, London. | |
| 30 April 2009: | Deadline for the submission of full papers for post-symposium publication. |
